Mr. Cameron

Mr. Cameron is currently in his 18th year of teaching music in public schools in Texas and will be starting his 5th year as Director of Bands at Montgomery High School. He received his bachelor's degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. While attending SHSU, Robert Cameron studied Saxophone with Dr. Scott Plugge and Band Director Pedagogy/Conducting with Mr. Matthew McInturf. Also, during his time at SHSU, Robert Cameron was a repeated recipient of a music scholarship, Assistant Saxophone Section Leader, Head Saxophone Section Leader and Student Assistant to the Bearkat Marching Band, and winner of the Honors Recital with his saxophone quartet. Mr. Cameron is also a graduate of Cy-Fair Senior High School and was a TMEA All-Area Saxophonist.

Working in Montgomery ISD, Mr. Cameron is director of the Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, and Jazz Band at Montgomery High School and has also helped teach the Honors Band at Montgomery Junior High. Mr. Cameron also co-teaches the Symphonic and Concert Bands with Mr. Henley and teaches AP Music Theory.

Mr. Cameron's previous teaching service includes Douglas MacArthur High School (San Antonio, TX, 2005-2012), Waltrip High School (Houston, TX, 2012-2013) and Frank Black Middle School (Houston, Tx, 2012-2015). His previous teaching experience includes Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, Jazz Ensemble II, Jazz Ensemble III, Jazz Combo, Woodwind Ensemble, and Brass Ensemble classes. Mr. Cameron has also been selected as a Summa Cum Laude Inspiring Teacher in 2008 and 2012.

At Frank Black Middle School, Mr. Cameron was solely responsible for teaching all beginner flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion classes, as well as conducting the Pep, Cadet, Advanced, and Graduation Bands. Upon his departure from Frank Black Middle School, the band program had earned it's first concert band trophy and included 300+ students!

Mr. Cameron's band ensembles have received superior/excellent ratings at UIL and other contests in Texas. He has most recently helped the Montgomery High School Band earn their first sweepstakes trophy in Region 9 class 6A! Mr. Robert Cameron is also an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA).

Mr. Cameron is very excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue building the Montgomery High School and Junior High instrumental music programs. When not teaching, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, Melanie, and two sons, Robert and Harrison.
